U.S. Cellular Replacing Customer’s Galaxy SIII Phones

Certain U.S. Cellular® customers will be able to exchange their current Samsung Galaxy S®III phones for an updated model at no cost.

U.S. Cellular notified some of its customers by email this week that their Galaxy SIII phones were not working up to par on the company’s network and were eligible for free replacement.

“At U.S. Cellular, we’re always evaluating our network and devices to ensure that you have the best wireless experience possible,” the company said. “Unfortunately, this evaluation has indicated that your Samsung Galaxy SIII device may not be performing to our standards. Fortunately, this is a device issue that has nothing to do with our network. The issue can easily be resolved with an updated device.”

Shortly after company sent the notification, customers flocked to the U.S. Cellular facebook page with questions.

Customers can visit the company’s Samsung Galaxy SIII Exchange Program to verify online if their phone is affected by locating the MEID(D) number under the battery or by pressing the Home key and then tap the Menu key > Settings > More > About Device > Status > MEID > Dec. After entering the MEID number into the website, eligible customers will be able to order the replacement phone and have it shipped to the billing address on file with U.S. Cellular.

The new Galaxy SIII phone will arrive with instructions on how to activate. Customers must return their old phone by mail within 15 days using the pre-paid shipping label or the company will charge them the full retail value ($699.99–$749.99) for the phone. They are not required to sign a new contract in order to participate in the exchange program.

Anyone with questions can contact U.S. Cellular Customer Service at 1-888-944-9400 or dial 611 from a U.S. Cellular phone.
