Sevierville Police Issue Alert for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Fundraising Scam

The Sevierville Police Department is warning citizens not to fall victim to a potential fundraising scam occurring in the area.

Detectives with the Sevierville Police Department are investigating a recent alleged incident in involving a woman who claimed to be fundraising for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Going door-to-door soliciting donations, the woman received $100 from a local business.

When detectives contacted officials at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, they were told the hospital is not currently conducting any fundraising activities in this area.

Detectives have learned that a woman has reportedly conducted a similar scam at businesses and residences in surrounding areas.

Anyone with information, as well as individuals or businesses that have been approached and solicited for a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital should contact Detective Milliron with the Sevierville Police Department at 865-868-1747.
