Sevier County voters can avoid the traffic and potential lines at the polls on Election Day, November 4, 2014 by taking advantage of early voting.

Registered voters of Sevier County can once again enjoy the convenience of early voting at the Sevier County Election Commission office in Sevierville or the Seymour Branch of the Sevier County Library in Seymour instead of going to the polls on November 4, 2014.

The Sevier County Election Commission has announced the following early voting dates for the State of Tennessee General Election and the Pittman Center Municipal Election:

The polls could be quite busy this Election Day. In addition to hotly contested races for Governor and U.S. Senate, voters across the state must decide on four proposed amendments to the Tennessee Constitution. There is concern that voters may find the legal wording of the proposed constitutional amendments as they appear on the ballot confusing, so do a little research before heading to the polls. To pass, each of the amendments must have a majority of YES votes, and the number of those YES votes must exceed 50% of the total number of votes cast in the governor’s race. This means if you vote on the amendments, you should also be sure to vote your choice of candidate for governor.

Of special interest to local Sevier County residents are the wine in grocery stores referendums on the ballot in Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. It is important to note that only registered voters who reside inside the city limits of Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg will have the wine in grocery stores referendum on their ballot. Registered Property Rights voters who own real property within the city limits of Sevierville, Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg may also vote on the wine in grocery stores referendum, but they will vote by paper ballot at certain locations. Voters must present a Photo ID at the poll. You do NOT need a Voter ID card.

Any of the following Photo IDs may be used, even if expired:

Tennessee driver license with your photo
United States Passport
Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security photo ID
Photo ID issued by the federal or Tennessee state government, such as an employee ID from the U.S. Department of Energy with your photo
United States Military photo ID, including a Veteran Identification Card
Tennessee handgun carry permit card with your photo

What forms of Photo ID are NOT acceptable?

College student photo IDs
Privately issued photo IDs, such as your discount club or bank card with your photo
Photo IDs issued by other states or by county or city governments, including library cards
