Health Insurance Enrollment Assistance Workshops

Health Organizations, Sevier Library & Walters State Team Up to Offer Health Insurance Enrollment Assistance

Local workshops will be held in Sevier County to provide health insurance enrollment assistance and information.

People who would like information about the Health Insurance Marketplace or need help enrolling in a health insurance plan can attend any of the Sevier County Health Insurance Enrollment Assistance Workshops running November through February in Sevier County. The first workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Sevier Senior Center.

These workshops will help you:

  • Learn more about the Health Insurance Marketplace
  • Determine if you qualify for Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
  • Find out if you are eligible for savings on insurance plans based on your income
  • Get face-to-face assistance enrolling in a Health Insurance Marketplace plan
  • If you already signed up for coverage in 2014, check out new plans available before you renew

Workshop participants do not need to make an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome.

The Open Enrollment period for 2015 insurance coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace started November 15, 2014 and continues to February 15, 2015. Insurance companies offering plans for residents of Tennessee in the marketplace include Community Health Alliance, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, Humana, and Assurant Health. The marketplace insurance plans offered by these companies must meet certain essential health benefits established by the Affordable Care Act, including coverage for doctor visits, prescription medications, hospitalization, maternity and newborn care, and preventative care services. Qualified applicants will receive a tax credit to help pay for their health insurance.

If you want to enroll, it is important to bring with you personal information such as birth dates and social security numbers of each household member, income information for all household members (tax return, pay stub, W-2, alimony received/paid, or the amount of student loan interest paid, etc.)
