Sevierville Police Department Taking Officer Applications

If you are considering a career in law enforcement, the Sevierville Police Department has officer openings to fill.

The Sevierville Police Department is currently accepting applications for Police Officer positions and the application deadline is 5 p.m. on Feb. 25, 2015.

Salary and Benefits:

Starting Salary: $31,716 After First Year: $35,118*

How to Apply:

Submit a standard resume or completed application by mail or in person to the Sevierville Police Department, 300 Gary Wade Blvd., Sevierville, TN 37862. Application/Resume must be received no later than February 25, 2015 at 5 p.m. Applications may be obtained during business hours or you can have an application mailed or emailed to you by contacting Ms. Lou Webb at (865) 868-1762 or Lwebb@seviervilletn.org. Applicants currently on file will be notified of testing dates by email. All applications will be held for a period of six months and then be destroyed; to keep your application or resume on file with our department you must re-submit every six months.

To be eligible to apply, applicants must:

  • Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Be a citizen of the United States
  • Be in excellent physical condition
  • Have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Have an excellent moral character.
  • Not have been released or discharged under anything other than an honorable discharge from any armed forces of the United States.
  • Not have been convicted of, or plead guilty to, or entered a plea of nolo contendere to any felony charge or to any violation of any federal or state laws or city ordinances relating to the use of force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor or controlled substances.

Sevierville Police Officer Duties and Responsibilities:

Sevierville Police Officers enforce state and local laws and ordinances, maintain order, and respond to emergencies. Job tasks include, but are not limited to: identifying and apprehending offenders; custodial or non-custodial arrests; use of non-lethal and/or lethal force; foot or vehicular pursuit; interview and interrogation; locating witnesses; seizing contraband; vehicle registration checks; warrant checks; surveillance; searches of persons or places; attending court and testifying as required; and preparing written reports of activities. Officers are typically assigned to patrol a zone by car, bike, or on foot. Officers make routine checks of public, business and residential areas to look for hazardous or unusual conditions and criminal activity. These may include, but are not limited to: assisting injured, elderly or disabled persons; administering first aid; traffic direction & control; investigating suspicious persons or vehicles; and securing accident, crime and disaster scenes.

Written and Physical Testing Date(s):

Applicants may attend testing on March 3, 5 or 7, 2015. Applicants must email Ms. Lou Webb at Lwebb@seviervilletn.org or call at (865) 868-1762 to schedule testing. Testing will take place at the Sevierville Police Department, 300 Gary Wade Blvd. in Sevierville, Tenn. 37862. There is no fee for testing and all materials will be provided.
