Sevier County Job Fair to Connect Job Seekers and Employers

Local businesses are looking to fill hundreds of open positions at the annual Sevier County Job Fair.

The 18th annual Sevier County Job Fair will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at the Holiday Inn Convention Center located at 3230 Parkway in Pigeon Forge (Just past traffic light #6). The job fair will be split into two sessions, non-tourism related businesses and tourism businesses. The Sevier County Economic Development Council, Sevier County, City of Gatlinburg, City of Pigeon Forge and the City of Sevierville are sponsoring the event.

“We are happy to provide this event each year to allow our businesses and job seekers to connect,” said Jack Miller, chairman of the Sevier County Economic Development Council board. “The Job Fair provides many job opportunities for job seekers in Sevier County.”

The Sevier County Job Fair morning session will be 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. and focus on jobs available with non-tourism businesses.

Participating businesses include: AtWork Personnel, Avon, Blalock Companies, Citizens National Bank, City of Sevierville, Funderburk Electrical Services, KaTom Restaurant Supply, King University, Kroger, Lisega, Inc., MasterCorp, Inc., Ralph Lauren, Ripley’s Entertainment, Silver Angels, Tusculum College and WalMart.

Positions that are available include: Electricians, Electrician apprentices, Equipment Operators, Laborers, CDL Truck Drivers, Financial Service Reps, Inside Sales, Adjunct Faculty, Customer Service Clerk, Welders, CAD Operators, Machine Operators, Industrial Painters, Golf Cart Attendants, Mechanics, Non-medical Caregivers, Factory Workers, Warehouse Workers, Call Center Employees, Retail Sales, and Shift Managers.

The Sevier County Job Fair 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. session will focus on jobs available in the tourism industry.

Participating businesses include: Bear Country Fun Park, Bluegreen, Burger King, Cheddar’s Casual Café, Chick-Fil-A, Colorvision International, Country Tonite Theater, Cracker Barrel, Dick’s Last Resort, Dixie Stampede, Dollywood, Edencrest Vacation Resorts, Fee Hedrick Family Entertainment, Firehouse Subs, Foxfire Mountain Adventures, Gatlinburg Falls Resort, Greystone Lodge on the River, Hampton Inn, Hardee’s, Hilton Garden Inn, Harpoon Harry’s Crab House, Holiday Inn of Pigeon Forge, Hollywood Wax Museum, the Inn at Christmas Place, The Island, Lumberjack Feud, MasterCorp, Inc., Mountain Edge Grill, Music Road Resort, Ober Gatlinburg, Old Mill LLC, Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen, Perry Smith Development, Rafting in the Smokies, Ralph Lauren, Ripley’s Entertainment, Russell Stover Candies, City of Sevierville, SharpShooter Imaging, Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster, Smokies Stadium Food & Beverage, Smoky Mountain Resorts, The SPIRITS Program, Steak n Shake, Three Bears General Store, Pigeon Forge Gem Mine, The Track, VF Outlet, WalMart, Westgate Resorts, Wilderness at the Smokies, and WonderWorks.

Hundreds of jobs are available including: Sales Associates, Cashiers, Ticket Office, Host/Hostesses, Waitresses, Bus boys, Production Crew, Cooks, Housekeepers, Front Desk, Dishwashers, Tour Guides, Ride Attendants, Lifeguards, Rafting Guides, Zipline Guides, Game Room Attendants and many more. Some of the jobs are part-time, some summer only and some full-time.

It is recommend that you carefully review the two sessions and the businesses that will be there so that you can attend the Sevier County Job Fair session that provides jobs that more closely suit your experience and skills. Many of the job seekers attending last year’s event were successful in their job search. If you have a resume, bring copies with you. You can visit the website www.seviercountyjobs.org to create a resume. A recent survey of business managers noted that the biggest mistake job candidates make when looking for a job is inappropriate attire so remember to dress to impress.

Bill Brombay, a member of the Smoky Mountains Human Resource Association, will be available during the morning session to answer questions about creating a resume and to share helpful hints to assist in getting a job.

A Career Coach sponsored by the Tennessee Department of Workforce Development will be available from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. The Coach has a mobile computer lab with internet access as well as workshops for resume writing and interviewing skills.
