Sevierville Named One of the 20 Best Small Towns to Visit in 2015

The travel section of Smithsonian.com recommends Sevierville, Tenn. on its 2015 list of best small towns.

Dollywood, Great Smoky Mountains National Park and other Sevier County attractions helped Sevierville take the #8 spot on “The 20 Best Small Towns to Visit in 2015” published Thursday by Smithsonian.com.

Founded in 1795, Sevierville is a small town rich in history that is perhaps best known as the hometown of Dolly Parton. List author Bess Lovejoy notes Sevierville’s historical places, such as the Harrisburg Covered Bridge, and aircraft on display at the Tennessee Museum of Aviation among the many places of interest to history lovers. She also recommended Sevierville based upon its proximity to Dollywood and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

While there are many great things to do and see in the surrounding areas of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, I would hate for visitors to miss some really fun and awesome things right in Sevierville. Sevierville is famous for shopping. There are just too many attractions and outdoor activities to list. It is also home to several wineries. Bloomin’ Barbeque & Bluegrass alone is worth the trip.

Estes Park, Colo. in the Rocky Mountains was #1 on the list of best small towns to visit.
