Motorcycle Fatality in Great Smoky Mountains National Park

A crash involving a car and a motorcycle in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park on Saturday afternoon has left the one man dead.

According to a release by park officials, park rangers and the Gatlinburg Fire Department responded to a report of a motorcycle accident in the park at about 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2015. The accident occurred on Little River Rd., approximately 2 miles west of the Elkmont road intersection, and involved a motorcycle operated by Serbey Chenkov of Jacksonville, Fla. and a Ford Focus driven by a couple from Louisiana.

54-year-old Chenkov died at the scene and was transported by Gatlinburg Fire Department EMS personnel to LeConte Medical Center.
