127,000 Crossbows Recalled, May Fire with Safety On

Crossbows sold at major sporting goods retailers are being recalled because they have the potential to fire unexpectedly even though the safety is engaged.

TenPoint Crossbow Technologies, of Mogadore, Ohio, is recalling TenPoint and Wicked Ridge brand crossbows for repair after receiving 19 reports that arrows released from the crossbows when the consumer pulled the trigger under certain circumstances after the safety mechanism was re-engaged. No injuries were reported. The crossbow recall affects 127,000 units manufactured in the United States from 2011 to 2014.

The TenPoint or Wicked Ridge brand name is printed on both sides of the crossbow barrel on all models except the GT Flex. The model name appears on both sides of the stock on all models. Consumers can identify the recalled crossbows by finding the serial number located on the left side of the barrel, below the trigger box.
