Relay For Life of Sevier County to Hold Day-Long Event at Patriot Park

Join Relay For Life of Sevier County on Saturday to celebrate cancer survivors, honor those fighting cancer, remember those lost, and fight back by fundraising for the American Cancer Society.

Relay For Life of Sevier County‘s 16th annual event will be held May 30, 2015 at Patriot Park in Pigeon Forge. Admission to the event is free.

Begin the day with a pancake breakfast at Old Mill Pottery House Cafe and Grill from 7:30 a.m. – 9 a.m. and then walk over to Patriot Park for the Opening Ceremony at 10 a.m. in which local mayors will proclaim the day Relay For Life Day in Sevier County.

The event will CELEBRATE survivors with a recognition ceremony, as Bo Williams and Whitney Good from WATE.com hand out survivor medals. Survivors will take the first lap around the track, and then be joined by caregivers.

Vendor tents will open for food, fun and fundraising. There will be great items available on both a silent auction and a live auction. There will also be a Kids’ Zone.

Afternoon entertainment on the main stage will begin at 11:30 a.m. with Sharon Tarwater, followed by The Shultz Family, Billy Rinck – Tribute to Elvis, Move Dance Factory, Elizabeth Williams Dance Studio, Michaela Row, Doug Thompson – Celebrity Tributes, Jay Adams, – Sound and Music and the Matt Cordell – Jason Aldene Tribute.

A Fight Back Ceremony will take place at 6:30.

The Tim Keller Band will perform from 7 p.m., followed by Jason Terry in concert at 8 p.m.

The Luminaria Ceremony, in which luminaria bags and candles are lit to REMEMBER loved ones who have passed or honor those fighting the disease, will be observed at 8:45 p.m. The Luminaria bags will line the track as participants walk a silent lap of reflection.

The Silent Auction ends at 8 p.m. and the Live Auction begins at 9:05 p.m.

The infamous Womanless Beauty Pageant will be held at 10 p.m. on the main stage.

Closing Ceremonies will include a promise to FIGHT BACK against cancer.

The public is also invited to participate the night before in the Running Cancer Out of Town 5K Glow Run at 9 p.m. on May 29, 2015 at Patriot Park, which is also a Relay For Life event benefitting the American Cancer Society.

Patriot Park is located on Old Mill Ave. in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

Relay For Life is a worldwide movement that raises more than $400 million in donations annually for the American Cancer Society, which invests in cancer research and provides information and services to cancer patients and their caregivers.
