City and Consulting Company Seek Public Input on Sevierville Zoning Ordinance Review

The City of Sevierville Planning and Development Department is embarking on a comprehensive review of Sevierville zoning ordinances. The review process will begin Monday, June 15, 2015 with the arrival of a consulting company.

The Orion Planning Group will lead the review and ultimately provide the city with recommended ordinance changes. The entire process is expected to be completed late this year.

The goal of the review is to ensure Sevierville zoning ordinances are keeping up with changes in common development practices and desirable land use guidelines, and ensure efficient processes for residents, property owners and developers.

“Maintaining and enforcing reasonable zoning policies is vital to community success and livability,” said Planning and Development Director Pamela Caskie. “At the same time, we want to be as flexible as possible and streamline our processes whenever we can for residents and developers.”

A team of six professionals from Orion will be meeting with City of Sevierville staff, private developers, and other partners to gather information.

Residents, property owners and developers are encouraged to provide input on Sevierville zoning ordinances via www.plansevierville.com.

Also, any interested person who would like to have a more extensive conversation with the consultants are invited to drop-in Wednesday afternoon, June 17, 2015 at the Sevierville Civic Center.

A public meeting is planned for Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 6 p.m. at the Sevierville Civic Center to present a summary of the information gathered. The public is invited to attend and an opportunity for public comments will be available.

The Sevierville Civic Center is located at 200 Gary R Wade Blvd. in Sevierville, Tenn.

  1. Unless something is done about traffic in serieville, there will be a lot of people staying away. Nobody wants to fight traffic while on vacation. We can do that at home.2.5 hours to get to flea market on Sunday from pigeon forge is crazy. Won’t do it again.reindeer830
