Police Have Person of Interest, Seek Info on Assault of Sevierville Woman

Sevierville Police are investigating the aggravated assault of a woman that allegedly occurred late last year and while they have focused on a person of interest, are still seeking information from the public about the incident.

Officers from the Sevierville Police Department, firefighters and EMS personnel responded to a call the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014 at a residence on Shannon Circle, which connects to Ernest McMahon Road in Sevierville, to find an unconscious woman outside. That woman was identified as Lana Ogle, 43, who lived at the home with her parents. According to Detective Lieutenant Sam Hinson, Ogle had been severely assaulted the evening before and remained unconscious outside in the frigid weather overnight until she was found the next morning.

Detectives have interviewed numerous persons, gathered and analyzed forensic evidence and worked several leads in the case.

“A person of interest has been identified, however his name will not be released at this time,” said Bob Stahlke, public information officer for the City of Sevierville, regarding the Lana Ogle case.

Ogle spent several months in a Knoxville hospital recovering from her physical injuries before being released, and is still undergoing therapy.

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone who may have information about the assault of Lana Ogle to call Detective Lieutenant Hinson of the Sevierville Police Department at 865-868-1751.
