Bread Recall: Sara Lee, Kroger, Bimbo, Nature’s Harvest, Great Value and L’Oven Fresh Brands

Grocery retailers are pulling bread off the shelves in eleven states after a bread recall was issued for several brands of bread made by Bimbo Bakeries because they may contain broken glass.

Pennsylvania based Bimbo Bakeries USA has issued a voluntary bread recall of certain products manufactured under the Sara Lee®, Kroger®, Bimbo®, Nature’s Harvest®, Great Value and L’Oven Fresh® brands after determining they may contain glass from a broken light bulb at one of its bakeries.

The company said it has received three consumer complaints of small pieces of glass on the outside of bread loaves, but no injuries were reported.

The bread recall affects products distributed to the states of Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Ohio, Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi and West Virginia.

Consumers can identify recalled bread by locating the Best By Date, UPC Code and Bakery Code 1658 on the bag of the products listed in the chart below. The Best By Date can be found on the lower front/top third of the bag, the Bakery Code is to the left of the Best By Date. The UPC Code can be found in the bottom right corner on the back/bottom of the bag. They may return the recalled bread to its place of purchase for a full refund.
