According to Detective Milliron, Timothy Buchanon reportedly used counterfeit money to purchase an item from a flea market vendor, but before he could leave the counterfeit money was discovered and the merchandise was returned. Before police could arrive, Buchanon allegedly gave $920 in counterfeit money to his daughter Jessica, who hid it in a trashcan in the restroom at the flea market.

Officers recovered the counterfeit money and charged both individuals with criminal simulation. They were taken to the Sevier County Jail for booking. Police notified the Secret Service and the agency will be joining the investigation.

All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
