Heritage Center Blue Ribbon Country Fair Offers Fun for All Ages

The Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center will hold the 9th Annual Blue Ribbon Country Fair on Saturday, a celebration of the old-fashioned county fair features competition, games, music, historic demonstrations and more.

Returning favorites include the Farmer in the Cove interactive exhibit, Townsend Artisan Guild craft tent, Antique Tractor exhibit, livestock displays and demonstrations.

Old-time contests of skill, such as Hog Calling, Rooster Crowing, Lodge Ladies’ Skillet Throw, Catch a Greased Pig Contest, Watermelon Seed-Spitting and others make this event one-of-a-kind and an unforgettable day of family fun! Visitors may sign up for these contests on the show grounds the day of the event.

Competition will again be offered in Poultry, Vegetables/Produce, Baked Goods, Canning, Honey Show, Woodworking Projects, Floral Show, and Student Art Competition on Paper. New in 2015 is a Needle Arts competition. The 2015 theme for both Student Art and Floral Design divisions this year is “East Tennessee Beautiful!”

Visitors will enjoy music by Baker Creek, Brandywine and Jill & Bob Pair of the Mountain Shadow String Band.

The 9th Annual Blue Ribbon Country Fair will be open 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015 at 123 Cromwell Drive in Townsend, Tenn. Admission is $5 per person. Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center Members receive complimentary admission.

The Blue Ribbon Country Fair is presented by Pilot Travel Centers, Clayton Homes, and DENSO.
