Arrowmont Holding Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage Artist of the Year Competition

Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts invites artists to submit works for consideration for the 2016 Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage Artist of the Year Competition.

This year’s theme is landscape. Any works that embody the spirit or characteristics of Great Smoky Mountains National Park including physical, biological or historical references to the park’s landscape will be accepted. Traditional and abstract interpretations are welcome. Acceptable media includes watercolor, gouache, pastel, colored pencil, oil, acrylic, printmaking, collage, or combinations of these media. Photography will not be accepted.

Submit entries via SlideRoom (arrowmont.slideroom.com) by Nov. 20, 2015. The entry fee is $15 for 2 works. Submit image files in .jpg format and no larger than 5 MB.

Chris Myers 2015 Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage Artist of the Year

The winning image will appear on the cover of the 2016 Wildflower Pilgrimage brochure, t-shirt and publicity. Original works by the winning artist will be exhibited in the Geoffrey A. Wolpert Gallery at Arrowmont from March 17 through April 24, 2016. The artist will receive free registration to the Wildflower Pilgrimage, free vendor booth, sales space in Mills Conference Center and free lodging and meals at Arrowmont during the event.

The Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage is a five-day event celebrating the diverse flora and fauna of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Natural history walks, motorcades, art classes and indoor seminars guided by professional leaders offer participants an array of informative experiences.

Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts enriches lives by developing aesthetic appreciation and fostering self-expression with hands-on experiences in a variety of media, classes, conferences and seminars. On the leading edge of arts education, Arrowmont utilizes contemporary and fine arts techniques to build upon a foundation of traditional arts and crafts.
