The Gatlinburg Chamber of Commerce is reminding the community to shop small during Small Business Saturday on Nov, 28, 2015. Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses nationwide. Celebrated every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the day has given small businesses across the country a huge boost.
“Recognizing the importance of supporting small, independently-owned businesses in our community, the Gatlinburg Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce our support for Small Business Saturday,” said Gatlinburg Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Vicki Simms. “We encourage everyone to shop local on Small Business Saturday.”
To encourage participation, the Chamber of Commerce is providing members with promotional items and marketing tools to promote their business on Small Business Saturday. When posting to social media, Gatlinburg businesses are encouraged to use #ShopSmall to elevate the reach of their social posts.
American Express created Small Business Saturday in 2010 to promote small businesses and help them increase their customer base. In order to help rally communities around the day, American Express created a Neighborhood Champions program, working with business organizations like the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the American Independent Business Alliance, and other national organizations to support communities in organizing Small Business Saturday events throughout the country.
Small business owners can take advantage of free marketing tools and consumers can find small merchants to shop at on Small Business Saturday by visiting www.shopsmall.com.
