Sevierville Man Arrested for String of Sevier County Home Burglaries

The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office announced today that they have arrested the man allegedly responsible for a series of home burglaries in the area, including one last week in which a family’s wrapped Christmas presents were stolen from beneath the tree.

Detectives made the arrest after discovering several pieces of stolen jewelry, which belonged to victims of recent home burglaries, at a local coin and jewelry dealer on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015. That led detectives to search a vehicle and residence of a suspect, where they found guns, jewelry, electronics and other items reported stolen in several home burglary cases.

29-year-old James Braxton King, of 523 Birch Drive in Sevierville, was arrested and charged with six counts of Aggravated Burglary, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Driving on a Suspended License. Detectives have allegedly linked King to home burglaries in New Center, Seymour, Boyd’s Creek and Kodak, as well as the burglary of a residence on Holly Drive in Sevierville in which the family returned home to find it ransacked and all their Christmas presents stolen. The investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division at 865-428-1899.

King is currently on parole from previous burglary charges in Sevier County in 2011. He is held in the Sevier County Jail under a $35,000 bond pending an arraignment in General Sessions Court.

All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
