Police Search for Couple Who Robbed, Assaulted Elderly Man with Baseball Bat

Sevierville Police are looking for a couple that allegedly hit an elderly man over the head with a baseball bat and robbed him of an envelope full of cash at a Sevier County flea market on Sunday.

According to Detective Kevin Bush, just before 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015, a man and a woman approached a 71-year-old man in the parking lot of the Great Smokies Flea Market and Crafts Fair at 220 W. Dumplin Valley Road in Kodak, Tenn., and asked to borrow money. The elderly man pulled $20 out of an envelope to give to the couple and that is when they reportedly attacked him, hitting him in the head with a baseball bat and taking the envelope, which contained $400.

The suspects were described as a white male with dark hair in his 40’s and a white female, possibly in her 30’s or 40’s, with shoddy bleach blonde hair. Witnesses told police that the couple fled the scene in a dark green 90’s model Ford Contour with severe body damage to the driver’s side, and that the car had a loud muffler.

Sevier County Ambulance Service transported the victim to the hospital.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sevierville Police Department at 865-453-5507.
