Gerdau names John Rauhuff Employee of the Year

Steel recycler Gerdau has named John Rauhuff as 2015 Employee of the Year at its Knoxville mill. He was nominated by coworkers and selected by the administration in recognition of his outstanding work ethic and ability to make good suggestions for process improvement.

Rauhuff was honored at a company dinner along with other Employee of the Month winners.

“These employees are nominated by their peers for their individual contributions to our entire team’s success,” said Johnny Miller, vice president and general manager of Gerdau’s Knoxville mill. “A common characteristic for this group is that they not only perform their individual work at a high level, but they also improve the engagement and performance of employees around them. For John to win top honors for the year among these employees is quite an achievement.”

During the nomination process, coworkers praised Rauhuff as an engaged employee who is always willing to help wherever needed and use his knowledge to make processes better.

Rauhuff, a Seymour resident, has been with Gerdau since 2007.

“John has a great work ethic and is willing to go the extra mile to help others and make sure we’re operating as effectively and safely as possible. He also frequently gets involved in activities outside of his work area,” Miller said. “I’m proud of our entire team and appreciate them for nominating John for this recognition.”
