UT Extension to Conduct Southeast Tennessee Beef Summit

Beef production, management, and marketing, current UT forage and beef research, and updates on new technology and equipment for the beef industry are topics to be discussed during the Southeast Tennessee Beef Summit on April 29, 2016 at the McMinn County Expo Center (inside Athens Regional Park) in Athens, Tenn. The Expo will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 2 p.m.

Registration check-in begins at 8 a.m. with 35 minute educational sessions from 8:40 to 11:55 a.m. Speakers from the University of Tennessee, DV Auction, and True Test will be conducting the morning sessions. Along with the sessions, the summit will host the largest beef trade show in southeast Tennessee. The morning sessions will be followed by a catered lunch and Corbitt Wall of DV Auction will give the keynote address after lunch.

Topics for the program will include: 2016 market outlook, electric fencing considerations, feeder calf management/marketing, freeze branding demonstration, UT research updates, and the trade show. For more information and flyer go to https://extension.tennessee.edu/mcminn.

Admission to the Southeast Tennessee Beef Summit is free, but pre-registration is required by April 22, 2016.
