6 Homes, 150 Acres Burned in Bluff Mountain Fire

Authorities say a Bluff Mountain fire is 100% contained, but certain roads are closed and people remain evacuated from the area.

A structure fire started at a home on Memory Way in Sevierville just before 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, 2016 and spread, burning six other homes and 150 acres of Bluff Mountain before firefighters could bring it under control. At least two other homes were damaged. Crews from Wears Valley Fire Department, Sevier County Fire Department and several other local departments responded to the fire. U.S. Forest Service airdrops were utilized to disperse fire retardants.

As of 9:30 p.m., county officials said the fire was 100% contained and that crews would continue to monitor and operate as needed through the night. People from about twenty homes are still evacuated. Memory Way and surrounding area roads are closed at this time.

No injuries were reported.
