Shine, Wine & Dine Art Auction Raises $171k for Arrowmont Education Programs

Proceeds from this year’s Arrowmont Shine, Wine & Dine art auction will help fund community and children’s arts and crafts classes.

The Arrowmont 6th Annual Shine, Wine & Dine art auction held on May 26, 2016 raised over $171,000 from sponsorships, silent and live auctions. Funds raised are used to support Arrowmont’s arts and crafts education programs. Ken Farmer, appraiser on Antiques Road Show, auctioned more than 20 items.

“In addition to raising much needed operating funds, Shine, Wine & Dine is an opportunity for us to showcase our campus, the artwork of our instructors, and familiarize the community with the work we are doing,” Bill May, Arrowmont executive director said. “We are grateful to the volunteers, the artists who donate work to be auctioned, and the Event Committee led by Chair Margit Worsham. We are particularly appreciative of the corporate and individual sponsors who gave extraordinary financial support to the event.”

Arrowmont’s local arts and crafts programming includes ArtReach, now in its 23rd year. Over its 23-year history, ArtReach has provided arts and crafts education to more than 25,000 Sevier County school children. Monies raised also support scholarships for teachers to attend Arrowmont’s national workshops; community classes offered during January and February to local citizens; and children’s classes offered on Saturdays. Community classes and children’s classes are offered at minimal cost and provide the same high quality programming and professional instruction in Arrowmont studios.

Shine, Wine & Dine art auction sponsors included: Jim and Marty Begalla, Blalock Companies, Sevier County Bank, Margit and Earl Worsham, Clayton Foundation, Food City, Susie and TomGlenn, Janet and Tom Harper, Haslam Foundation, Pilot & Flying J, SmartBank, Citizens National Bank, Harper Auto Square, Emily Kile, Burchfiel-Kile Enterprises, The Peddler Steakhouse, The Park Grill, Anakeesta Village, Atchley & Associates, Barnes Insurance, Dollywood, Herschend Family Entertainment, Parkside Cabin Rentals, and The Historic Gatlinburg Inn.
