Turnout Low for Start of Sevier County Early Voting

Early Voting was off to a slow start on Friday with only a small number of Sevier County voters showing up to cast their ballot.

The State of Tennessee Democratic & Republican Primaries & Sevier County General Election will be held Thursday, August 4, 2016. Early voting for the election opened on Friday and will continue through July 30, 2016.

According to staff at the election commission office, the total number of votes cast Friday was 154 and another 16 on Saturday. Those numbers include votes cast in person at the election commission office, area nursing homes and absentee ballots received.

The voter registration deadline has passed for the August election, but citizens may still register to vote in the November 8, 2016 State & Federal General Election through October 11, 2016.
