LeConte Breast Center receives $50K Donation for 3D Mammography Unit

The LeConte Comprehensive Breast Center now offers 3D mammography thanks to a large donation by the Dr. Robert F. Thomas Foundation.

Members of the board of directors and staff of the Dr. Robert F. Thomas Foundation toured the LeConte Comprehensive Breast Center where they learned more about the new 3D Mammography (tomosynthesis) unit. The foundation was pleased to present LeConte’s CAO, Jenny Hanson, a $50,000 check towards the purchase of the new 3D mammography machine. The LeConte Comprehensive Breast Center is designated as Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology.

Medicare and many health insurance policies cover the cost of 3D mammography. For people without insurance coverage, the facility currently offers either a 2D or 3D mammogram for $80. Call 865-446-8000 for more information or to make an appointment.

The Dr. Robert F. Thomas Foundation is proud to help to improve the quality of healthcare in our community. They will host their annual Evening of Elegance fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016.
