New Director of Parks and Recreation Coming to Pigeon Forge

The City of Pigeon Forge has hired Lanny Goodwin as the new director of Parks and Recreation.

Goodwin has worked 40 years in the field of parks and recreation, most recently as director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Murfreesboro. He began his career in 1975, became the Assistant Director in 1988 for the City of Murfreesboro and has been the Director there since 2008.

Goodwin is a graduate from Middle Tennessee State University and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health, Recreation, Physical Education & Safety. He has also completed graduate work at MTSU. He is a certified Parks and Recreation professional through the National Parks and Recreation Association.

City Manager Earlene Teaster said, “We feel very fortunate to have Lanny joining our city staff as our new director of Parks and Recreation. The City of Murfreesboro has long been one of the outstanding parks and recreation programs in the state, winning many awards. I know he has great passion for the continued development of green ways and our overall Parks and Recreation program.”

Goodwin will begin work on September 6, 2016.
