Authorities say they are investigating a reported rape of a male student by three male classmates at a local high school in Sevier County.
Sevier County School System staff were notified Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016 of an alleged rape of a male juvenile student that reportedly occurred on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016 on the campus of Sevier County High School in Sevierville. Staff informed the Department of Children’s Services and the Sevierville Police Department of the report.
“SPD detectives immediately began an investigation and have conferred with school staff and the Attorney General’s Office,” said Bob Stahlke, spokesperson for the City of Sevierville. “The investigation is in the very early stages; no charges have been filed at this point.”
Detectives have identified three juvenile male suspects who are also students at the school.
“It does not appear that the victim sustained serious injuries,” Stahlke said.
Police withheld any further information due to the ongoing investigation and the ages of the victim and suspects, but said they would release more information as the investigation progresses.
