Cat Show Coming to Pigeon Forge, Donating to Fire Department

250 cats will compete in the largest cat show in the southeast region this weekend in Pigeon Forge.

The Volunteer Cat Club cat show will be held Oct. 28–30, 2016 at the Smoky Mountain Convention Center, 4010 Parkway in Pigeon Forge. The show is open to the public 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29 and Sunday, Oct. 30. Admission is $6. Bring a cat food donation for the animal shelter, dress up as a cat, or bring candy for locals in the community and get $1 off your admission.

What is a cat show? Only the best feline beauty pageant! Some people may never have seen some of these cat breeds in person. It will be full of beautiful cats, furry cats and naked cats, folded eared cats, curled eared cats, cats with short legs and short tails… the best of the best cats in the region will be there, along with beloved household pets and a few cats for adoption.

TICA Cat Show Pigeon Forge

“Cats at cat shows score points, not for money but for the love of competing,” says Stephanie Smith Volunteer Cat Club president and a proud TICA cat show judge. “We love our cats and want everyone to become educated in different breeds as well as their health and the importance of the continuation of the breeds purity.”

This is the largest TICA cat show in the southeast. There will be six different shows each day, with kittens and cats of numerous breeds competing for regional and international wins, making this feline beauty pageant a must for competitive felines from across the country.

Last year, Volunteer Cat Club was able to donate $400 to a family who had their home destroyed by fire and lost many of their beloved cats, through a bake sale held amongst the group during the event. This year they plan to invite Pigeon Forge Fire Chief Tony Watson to the cat show on Friday afternoon to present the department with a gift to help other families in the Pigeon Forge area and rescue animals from fire. This gift is reusable and will save many lives.
