Little Tikes Recalls 540,000 Swings after Kids Injured

Popular Little Tikes toddler swings are being recalled after reports of children injured due to the product breaking.

Ohio-based Little Tikes is recalling about 540,000 of its pink 2-in-1 Snug ‘n Secure Swings. The manufacturer has received 140 consumer complaints of the units breaking. In 39 of those reports, the product failure resulted in injuries to a child. While most suffered abrasions, bruises, cuts and bumps to the head from the fall, two children reportedly broke their arm.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled swings and contact Little Tikes for a refund in the form of a credit towards the purchase of another Little Tikes product,” the company said in a release.

Consumers may have bought the 2-in-1 Snug ‘n Secure Swing for about $25 at retailers nationwide, including Walmart and Toys “R” Us, and online at www.littletikes.com and other websites from November 2009 through May 2014.

The toddler swing has a pink plastic seat and is suspended by four yellow ropes. The Little Tikes logo is affixed to the T-shaped restraint.

To identify if a toddler swing is recalled, locate the model number 615573 and a manufacturing date code stamp on the back of the seat.

If the molded INNER arrow of the date code stamp points to “10”, “11”, “12” or “13”, it is included in the recall. In addition, swings with a date code stamp of “9” on the INNER arrow combined with “43” or higher number stamped on the OUTER are included in this recall. No other date codes or other colored swings are affected.

Consumers with a recalled Little Tikes toddler swing can submit a refund claim online.
