Sevier County Sheriff Seeks Info on ATV Thefts after Arrest

Detectives from the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office arrested a local man for allegedly stealing an ATV and now seek information from the public about other thefts in the area.

According to the department, a 2017 Yamaha four wheeler valued at $5500 was reported stolen on April 16, 2017 from a residence on Lost Branch Road, off Wears Valley Road. Detectives uncovered information of the perpetrator’s identity and location of the stolen ATV. They went to a home at 2050 Little Cove Road in Sevierville and spoke with a person of interest that lived there, identified as 27-year-old Richard A. Vaughn, and obtained information that led them to find the stolen ATV parked behind a vacant rental cabin on Hatcher Mountain Road.

Vaughn was charged with one count of theft over $1000 and is being held in the Sevier County Jail awaiting arraignment before a magistrate.

The investigation is ongoing and Sheriff Ron Seals asks anyone with information about thefts of ATVs or other off road vehicles in the area contact the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division at 865-428-1899.
