Juveniles Charged with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Robbery in Deal-Turned-Robbery

Three juveniles have been arrested in connection with an attempted robbery and shooting that took place in the Food City parking lot in Seymour last month.

Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals says that three Knox County juveniles face charges including attempted aggravated robbery and attempted first degree murder for an incident that took place in the parking lot of the Food City on Chapman Highway in Seymour on April 22, 2017.

The victim called 911 that day to report shots fired during an attempted carjacking. He told responding officers that four subjects approached the vehicle. One subject got in the passenger seat of his vehicle and armed with a handgun, ordered the victim and his friend to get out. The victim attempted to get away and the subject fired the handgun inside the vehicle, jumped out and fired more rounds at the victim’s car as he was fleeing. Neither the victim nor his friend were injured. The four subjects fled in a grey Jeep Patriot.

The department’s Criminal Investigation Division found the incident was not a random carjacking as reported. The investigation revealed the victim and suspects had a pre-arranged meeting in the parking lot involving illegal activities. The four juveniles allegedly attempted to rob the other subjects that they were meeting.

While three of the juveniles have been arrested and charged, authorities identified and are still looking for the fourth juvenile. The identities of the juveniles are withheld.
