Mountain Tough Recovery Team Opening Gatlinburg Office, Taking Applications

Mountain Tough Recovery Team case managers will begin meeting with those in need of services during the recovery process from November’s wildfires.

Mountain Tough begins a two-pronged effort to help those in need take the next steps in their recovery on Thursday, June 1, 2017. First, Mountain Tough will open its new office and begin offering case management to those affected by providing support and fulfillment of unmet needs. The second prong is the effort led in conjunction with the Appalachia Service Project to rebuild homes.

Anyone seeking assistance should apply online and schedule an appointment at www.mountaintough.org. Eligibility will be determined through the online application. Completing the pre-application also expedites the process. Anyone without internet access may call the Mountain Tough office at (865) 436-8112 to start their application. Once an appointment is scheduled, applicants will meet with case managers to review the circumstances of unmet needs, determine recovery options and set goals to advance the healing process.

Mountain Tough seeks to restore the quality of life and provide for the unmet human needs of the residents of Gatlinburg and Sever County affected by the November 2016 wildfires. The Mountain Tough Recovery Team is led by Executive Director Janice Hendrix.

The Gatlinburg office of the Mountain Tough Recovery Team is slated to open on June 1 and is located at 906 East Parkway, Suite 3 in Gatlinburg. Gatlinburg and Sevier County are paying the administrative fees, allowing 100% of donations to benefit affected families directly.

Anyone who wants to help the Mountain Tough Recovery Team with their efforts should visit www.mountaintough.org for information on how to donate, how to volunteer and much more.
