Events Planned to Celebrate American Eagle Day at Dollywood

The American Eagle Foundation celebrates American Eagle Day with a full slate of activities planned for Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Dollywood. American Eagle Day was first recognized in 1995 by President Bill Clinton and Tennessee Governor Don Sundquist as a special time to commemorate the bald eagle’s anniversary of its selection as our national symbol. More than 80 governors from 49 states have signed proclamations naming June 20 as American Eagle Day. This is the 10th year American Eagle Day has been recognized by the U.S. Congress.

The American Eagle Foundation will host a number of activities at Dollywood’s Wings of America Theatre and Eagle Mountain Sanctuary aviary exhibit that are designed to educate the public about one of our country’s greatest symbols. The day’s activities include an exclusive meet-and-greet with Challenger the free-flying bald eagle, Wings of America birds-of-prey shows, presentations about the comeback of the bald eagle, as well as activities for kids and adults of all ages. The events are free to attend for Dollywood park guests.
