Sheriff Finds Drugs, Weapons, Counterfeit Money Operation at Seymour Home

Authorities searched a residence in the Eagle Den Subdivision of Sevier County on Saturday after two drug overdoses occurred there, reportedly finding that drugs were being packaged and sold and counterfeit money made at the home.

Sevier County Sheriff’s officers and EMS personnel responded to two separate overdose calls at a home located at 806 Carter Street in Seymour on Saturday, July 8, 2017, one call at 2:39 a.m. and another at 4:53 a.m. EMS transported each victim to a Knoxville hospital where both are listed in critical condition from suspected heroin overdose.

Later that morning, officers stopped 31-year-old Joshua H. Coleman, of Sevierville, as he walked near that residence and arrested him for possession of methamphetamine.

Narcotics investigators were notified of the events and secured a search warrant for the 806 Carter Street residence. Saturday evening, the Sevier County Street Crimes Unit and Sevier County Special Operation Team executed the search warrant, finding Xanax, Clonazepam and marijuana inside the residence, along with three weapons and substances they believe to be heroin and methamphetamine that have been sent to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for testing.

“Other drug paraphernalia items found in the home indicate that drugs were being packaged and sold there,” said Sheriff Ron Seals in a release. He also stated that detectives found counterfeit money was being made at the home.

Two people living at the home were arrested.

Daniel E. Smallwood, 34, was charged with Possession of Schedule IV Narcotic with Intent to Resale, Possession of Schedule VI (Marijuana), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Criminal Simulation. Other charges are pending at this time.

Amy L. Grizzle, 28, was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Knox County and other charges are pending in Sevier County.
