Cash Register, Lottery Tickets, Cigarettes Taken in Convenience Store Burglary

Law enforcement tracked down and arrested a man who allegedly burglarized a Cosby convenience store over the weekend.

The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office said an employee at Jack’s Market, 5342 East Parkway in Cosby, showed up Sunday morning, July 9, 2017, to open the convenience store and found that the store had been burglarized. Detectives reviewed video from the surveillance cameras, which showed a man arrive in a vehicle, get out and throw a rock through the store’s window to get in. They found the cash register, lottery tickets and cigarettes had been stolen. A suspect was developed during the investigation and detectives went to a residence on nearby Rocky Flats Road, where they found the vehicle and the man seen on the store’s video, identified as 21-year-old Tanner K. Flynn.

“Investigators also found items at the home and in the car linking Flynn with the burglary,” Sheriff Ron Seals said. “Flynn was placed into custody but escaped from the officers at the scene. He was taken back into custody a short time later by the officers.”

Officers charged Flynn with Burglary and Escape. They transported him to Sevier County Jail where he is awaiting arraignment before a judge. The investigation is ongoing.

All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
