Gatlinburg First UMC Holding Christmas Concert and Carol Sing

The singers and musicians of Gatlinburg First United Methodist Church will present their Eleventh Annual Christmas Concert and Carol Sing on Friday, Dec. 8, 2017 at 7 p.m. While the event is free and open to everyone, there will be an offering taken up for those who wish to contribute to the Bread of Life Food Ministry, which is a mission of both Gatlinburg First United Methodist Church and Saint Mary’s Catholic Church of Gatlinburg.

Special guest musicians will be John Celestin, clarinetist from Saint Mary’s Catholic Church and Kent Voisin, violinist, from Holy Cross Catholic Church. Music will include the cantata “His Name Is Jesus” to be presented by the First Methodist Singers. Music director Peggy Smith compiled the cantata with narrative written by Lori English.

In addition to the concert music, there will be plenty of carol singing for the entire congregation! There will be a wide variety of music presented, including some grand, old Christmas hymns with pipe organ accompaniment, contemporary Christmas pieces, traditional hymns with piano accompaniment, and even some very old mountain hymns with Appalachian dulcimer accompaniment.

The church will serve Christmas cookies and punch downstairs in the Asbury Room after the Christmas concert. Everyone is invited to come for this special evening of Christmas music and carol singing!

For more information please call Gatlinburg First United Methodist Church office at 865-436-4691 or Peggy Smith at 865-654-4256.
