Sevier County Man Facing Attempted 2nd Degree Murder Charges

A grand jury has charged a man shot by Sevier County Sheriff’s Deputies during a confrontation last month with two counts of attempted second-degree murder.

According to the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office, 41-year-old Timothy Scott McGill was arrested today without incident after a Sevier County Grand Jury returned a sealed presentment charging McGill with four counts of aggravated kidnapping, four counts of aggravated domestic assault, four counts of reckless endangerment, one count of domestic assault, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of attempted 2nd degree murder in connection with a domestic dispute call that resulted in an officer-involved shooting on Dec. 3, 2017.

That day, McGill’s wife called 911 to report her husband had threatened to harm himself. Deputies responded to the couple’s home on Joyce Way in Kodak and a confrontation occurred that prompted deputies to fire on McGill, who was struck and later transported to University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment.

TBI Special Agents were called in by 4th District Attorney General James Dunn to investigate the incident.

McGill is being held in the Sevier County Jail on $100,000 bond. He will be arraigned in Sevier County Circuit Court at a later date.
