Man Shot During Dispute at Sevierville Residence

Sevierville police are investigating an altercation between two men that resulted in one shooting the other in the face Wednesday evening.

According to the Sevierville Police Department, officers responded to a reported shooting at a home located at 926 Middle Creek Road about 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21.

“The initial investigation indicates that two men, 47-year-old James H. Raney, Jr. and 40-year-old Steven Ogle were involved in a physical altercation during which Mr. Raney shot Mr. Ogle in the face with a .380 semi-automatic pistol,” said Bob Stahlke, spokesperson for the City of Sevierville.

Ogle was conscious and alert at the scene. Sevier County Ambulance Service transported him to University of Tennessee Medical Center.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident, which includes determining the cause of the dispute, and have filed no charges at this time.

All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
