Money Available for Homeowners and Renters Suffering COVID-19 Income Losses

East Tennessee homeowners and renters may qualify for the HomeSource Covid-19 Housing Assistance Program to pay mortgage, rent and utility bills through a new grant made possible by the Cares Act.

Through a grant from the State of Tennessee utilizing federal money allocated to the state from the Cares Act, HomeSource east tennessee is offering assistance to homeowners and renters in Sevier, Knox, Blount, Loudon, Roane, Anderson, Cocke, and Campbell counties who are experiencing difficulty paying or behind in their mortgage or rent due to loss of income from COVID-19.

The funding can be used to pay back rent, mortgage payments or utilities bills occurring during the period of March 2020 through November 2020. The assistance will be in the form of a direct payment to the applicant’s mortgage company, landlord or utility company.

To qualify for the HomeSource Covid-19 Housing Assistance Program, you must be able to attest to the following:

  • You are having difficulty paying, or are behind on, your housing payment due to economic issues caused by the financial downturn during the COVID-19 crisis. You may apply even if you are under an eviction/foreclosure moratorium.
  • Your current income is less than $99,000 a year ($189,000 for married couples).
  • You live in Knox, Sevier, Blount, Loudon, Roane, Anderson, Cocke, or Campbell County.
  • You are US Citizen or Permanent Resident

Residents of Jefferson, Union, Grainger, Greene, Hamblen, Claiborne, Hancock, and Hawkins counties may apply for a similar program through Clinch Powell.
