Park Visitor Dies after Fall from Rental Bicycle in Cades Cove

A Florida woman who fell off her rental bicycle in Cades Cove on Friday has died.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park rangers responded to a report of a bicycle accident in Cades Cove at 12:48 p.m. on Friday, June 29, 2018. The cyclist, 55-year old Sandra Hull from Sarasota, Fla., fell off her bicycle along the Cades Cove Loop Road near the exit.

Hull suffered injuries to the back of her head and was flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville by Lifestar, where she later passed away as a result of her injuries on Saturday, June 30 at 7:15 a.m. Hull was riding a rental bicycle and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

In addition to Park Rangers, AMR emergency services responded to the scene.
