Police Investigating Two Men Found Shot Outside Sevierville Hotel

Sevierville police are investigating a double shooting outside a Sevierville hotel involving two visitors from Alabama.

According to the Sevierville Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call at about 11:41 p.m. on July 20, 2018 from a motorist who reported that a man in the parking lot of the Hampton Inn, 681 Winfield Dunn Parkway, appeared to be having a medical problem and tried to enter their vehicle.

The first officer to arrive found a man, identified as 28-year-old James Douglas Moyer of Piedmont, Ala., in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. That officer also discovered Jamie Scott Barron, 27, of Gadsden, Ala., in a nearby truck with a gunshot wound to his head.

Barron was pronounced dead at LeConte Medical Center in Sevierville.

Moyer was transported to University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. His condition is unknown.

The two men knew each other. It is not known if they were guests at the hotel. Police say the investigation is ongoing, but believe there is no danger to the public. Anyone with information should contact the Sevierville Police Department or Detective Graham Brantley (865-868-1748).
