The Sevier County Area Master Gardener Group will be holding its fourteen annual class starting in January 2019.
The class will start on January 17th with the last class ending on March 21st. Classes will be held on ten Thursday nights and one Saturday. Thursday classes are January 17, 24, 31, February 7, 14, 21, 28, March 7, 14, 21. Saturday class is March 16. Evening classes will start at 6 p.m. and end at 9 p.m. Saturday classes start at 9 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. Classes will be held at the University of Tennessee Sevier County Extension Office which is located next to the Sevier County Fairgrounds at 752 Old Knoxville Highway, Sevierville. Registration fee for this class is $150, which includes all classes, workshops, books, handouts, refreshments, etc.
Enrollment in the Sevier County Master Gardener Program is limited to 25. You are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to ensure your place in this upcoming class. Applicants must complete the enrollment form and return with a $50 deposit by January 2nd. The balance of the fees will be due the first class. If you know of others who might have an interest in this program, please pass this information along to them.
Topics to be covered in this years classes include the following: Plant Botany, Forestry, Fruits, Vegetables, Soils, Flowers, Turf Grasses, Insects, Plant Diseases, and Backyard Wildlife along with others.
In addition to attending these classes, you are encouraged to get involved in community activities. The Sevier County Area Master Gardener Association is involved in a number of projects designed to improve the communities we live in. Master Gardeners are encouraged to volunteer up to 40 hours of time back to the community each year. Also, you can join this association and attend monthly meetings where additional topics of interest are covered.
The Tennessee Master Gardener Volunteer Program offers many opportunities to make new friends and enhance your horticultural expertise while becoming involved in community activities.
