58 Alleged Drug Dealers Indicted in Sevier County Drug Crackdown

Law enforcement officers swept up 38 of 58 suspected drug dealers Tuesday after an undercover operation dubbed “Just Say No-vember” that focused on heroin and other opioid related drugs.

Just Say No-vember was an 8-month long undercover operation by the Sevier County Street Crimes Unit and resulted in the indictment of 58 people for the sale and delivery of various narcotics by a Sevier County Grand Jury last week. The operation targeted heroin and opioids, as well as other illicit drugs such as Methamphetamine. Several weapons were also purchased undercover during the operation. The Sevier County Street Crimes Unit is a joint task force with officers from the Sevier County Sheriff’s Department and police departments of Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.

Beginning at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018, officers from Sevier County Sheriff’s Office; police departments of Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg; Homeland Security; US Marshals Service; Tenn. Office of Inspector General and Tenn. Dept. of Corrections (BOPP) began arresting the alleged drug dealers. By the end of the day, 38 of the 58 suspects were in custody. During the arrest operation six vehicles and $4740 in cash were seized from the suspects. Sheriff Ron Seals says the roundup will continue until all the subjects that were indicted are arrested.

All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  1. What the “task force” did not report is that several of these “suspects” have been incarcerated in the jail since before the “operation” started ! My son is one of these that has been in custody more then nine months waiting to be convicted ,or should I say coerced into pleading guilty with little or no evidence . It is a merry go round in Sevier County . There is no rehab just throw them in jail for minor offenses and once the sentence is served ,kick them to the curb . No help no resources and when it is time to show how local law enforcement are combating drugs ,they round up the same addicts ,send other addicts in to frame them and send more addicts to frame the first ones and they all end up back in jail . Forget the “Big Fish ” who can afford to buy their way out ,just so the numbers look good. My son is an addict that has a drug problem and can’t get medical insurance ,can’t find a steady job because of his record and self medicates .He does need help and something more then a one hour talk session with other addicts that costs him $75 a week . The local law enforcement should concentrate on getting the ones who bring in the drugs ,”in mass” and stop them and get a program to help these addicts (Knox county is trying ) why can’t Sevier County with all the tourist $$$$ pumped into this county why don’t they try to stop the merry go round?
