UT Extension Specialists to Present on Hunting, Fishing and Wildlife Topics

Registration is open for University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture’s Sportsman’s Field Day.

What does a Tennessee sportsman (or woman) need to know about chronic wasting disease or pond management? What about wild turkeys or silver carp? These topics and more will be covered at the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture’s Sportsman’s Field Day on March 23, 2019.

Hosted by the Middle Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center, the event will feature talks from UT Extension specialists from multiple middle Tennessee counties, along with Daniel Grove, UT Extension Wildlife veterinarian, and Justin Spaulding, a wildlife manager with Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

Starting at 8:30 a.m., attendees will be able to attend hour-long sessions covering a wide range of topics, including food plot management and the plight of silver carp, with update sessions for the management of wild turkeys and chronic wasting disease. Other topics include weed management and pond stocking rates.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. The deadline to register is March 18. A complimentary lunch will be provided at noon.

To register or get more information, call the Lewis County UT Extension office at 931-796-3091.
