Sevierville Police Identify Victims in Fatal Cement Truck Crash

Police released the names of victims involved in a fatal crash between a cement truck and passenger car on Veterans Boulevard Thursday afternoon.

Officers with the Sevierville Police Department responded to the intersection of Veterans Boulevard and Blanton Drive after a crash was reported about 1 p.m. on July 18, 2019.

According to SPD Officer Shawn Crawford, it appears that a 2016 Kenworth cement truck owned by Blalock and Sons, Inc. was traveling north on Veterans Boulevard and a 2008 Honda Civic was traveling west on Blanton Drive, attempting to turn south onto Veterans Boulevard.

The two vehicles collided in the intersection, the front of the cement truck impacting the driver’s side of the Civic. Both vehicles ended up in the southbound lanes of Veterans Boulevard just north of the intersection. The cement truck came to rest on its side, next to the Civic.

The driver of the Civic, 68-year-old Kateri Goldwater of Pigeon Forge, died apparently as a result of the crash. Lifestar air ambulance transported a passenger in the Civic, 28-year old Barry Goldwater of Pigeon Forge, to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. His condition is not known.

The driver of the cement truck, 38-year old Joshua Harris of Pigeon Forge, was transported to LeConte Medical Center where he was treated and released.

The southbound lanes of Veterans Boulevard from Dolly Parton Parkway to Blanton Drive were closed until approximately 2:45 p.m.

SPD accident reconstructionists are continuing to investigate the crash.
