Upcoming Events Help Veterans Find Work and Resources

Knoxville community partners and employers are participating in a 2-day event to help area veterans access vital resources and find employment.

The American Job Center in Knoxville is coordinating a community resource fair and job fair focused on area veterans who need assistance in finding resources or are looking for new employment.

Veterans Resource Fair:

The American Job Center has partnered with Volunteers of America, Department of Veteran Affairs, and the Vet Center to hold a Resource Fair on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Tennessee National Guard Armory on Sutherland Avenue in Knoxville.

The resource fair will bring together community organizations that can help veterans receive needed assistance. More than 55 service providers will take part in the event.

American Job Center staff will offer workshops every hour that will help guide veterans through career readiness preparation. Ahead of Wednesday’s job fair, the mobile AJC will be on-site at the resource fair to help job seekers register on Jobs4TN.gov, sharpen their resumes and prepare for job interviews.

Veterans Job Fair:

The veteran-focused Job Fair will take place Wednesday, Aug. 21, from 9 a.m. until noon at the National Guard Armory. The job fair is open to the public. More than 30 employers will participate and many of them understand the benefit of hiring veterans. Job seekers should bring copies of their resume to give to potential employers.
