Sevierville Walmart Closing for Sanitation Due to COVID-19

The Walmart Supercenter in Sevierville announced suddenly on Wednesday that the store would close for an extended cleaning by a third-party contractor as part of the store’s efforts to reduce spread of the coronavirus.

“As an essential business and member of the Sevierville community, we understand the role we play in providing our customers with food, medicine and other essential items during this time,” the store said in a statement. “We also understand this community has been hit especially hard by COVID-19. Health officials are working to curb the impact of this pandemic, and we want to be a part of the solution. In support of this effort, we have chosen to temporarily close starting at 2:00 p.m. today, October 7. This will allow extra time for a third-party specialist to further sanitize the store and will also give our associates additional time to restock shelves and prepare the store to once again serve the community during this time.”

The store previously enacted social distancing measures, provided masks, gloves and hand sanitizer for associates, and installed sneeze guards at registers.

The closure came with only a few hours notice to the public. The Walmart Supercenter, located at 1414 Parkway in Sevierville, is scheduled to reopen at 7:00 a.m. on Friday, October 9.
